One of my favorite places in Lake Tahoe serves up a blend of Mexican cuisine in a whole new way. Anyone who knows me, knows I am the first to try a restaurant that has Mexican food on its menu. Verde Mexican Rotisserie satisfies taste buds with delicious flavor in a unique style. I have frequented the Meyers location for about 3 years and was elated when the new South Lake Tahoe location opened up. Given this was an obvious candidate for my “Like a Local” series, I decided to call up the owners to talk about their new place.
Owners: Domi & Katy Chavarria, born and raised Lake Tahoe locals.
Website: Verde Mexican Rotisserie
Locations: Meyers (just south of South Lake Tahoe); South Lake Tahoe (The Crossings at the Y)
Hours: Mon – Sat, 8am- 8pm; Sunday 8am-4pm
Verde Mexican Rotisserie
After sitting down and chatting with Domi and Katy, I got the scoop behind all the yummy food and the need to open a new location.
The first Meyers location up in December of 2014. If you are coming into South Lake Tahoe from the California side, this is a great first stop, or last stop as you head out of town. There is outdoor patio seating and live music on Wednesdays during the summer.
The Crossing Location
This location just opened July of 2017. It was built by locals, everything from the construction, to the tables, to the photography. With the Meyers location maxed out with space to serve the crowd, this location is closer to town and able to serve more of the community.
Now for the best part…the food! Everything here is totally fresh and made in house. They use non-GMO products, grass fed cheese and try to source locally whenever possible. The dishes are a medley that are health conscious but not lacking in flavor. Menu items range from rotisserie chicken and Tri- Tip platters to burritos, tacos, and salads. There are also budget friendly kid menu items, my son thinks the burritos are the best. As for me, my mood decides whether I partake in the many flavors of the Verde Salad or the tacos. I just love a good taco!
Picking up food is fast and easy, which is great when you are heading to the beach and want a good meal to complement the view. And don’t forget breakfast! There are 4 breakfast items sure to fill you up after that early morning water ski or before heading out on the ski slopes.
I have been to both locations, midweek and weekend. They are both hopping during the lunch and dinner rush. Not to worry, you can always call in and order or just wait and enjoy the atmosphere with a glass of beer or wine.
Pin it and save this for later!
