I thought since I was starting my blog over, that I should start with the VERY beginning. That is, telling you a little bit about myself. I am a household engineer, freelance artist, DIY lover and closet introvert. Here are 10 things about me.
1- I have a degree in Fine Art.
I have a bachelors degree in fine art in painting from a small liberal arts college in Incline Village, Nevada; on the shores of Lake Tahoe. It was here that I met my husband and where our story began. For more information on my artwork, you can click here.
2- I am a boy mom.
I have been blessed with two boys and I love every minute of it. I was a little bit of a tom boy myself and have no idea what I would do with a girly girl. I am absolutely amazed how these beautiful messy souls have made me so grateful, happy and proud.
3- I hate squeaky sounds.
Every squeak. Rocking chairs, swing sets, air seeping from a water bottle. They drive me insane! It doesn’t take me long for my inner dragon to emerge and find the culprit. Give me construction noise or dogs barking but please, no squeaks.
4- I love to organize.
Maybe I have grown to love it. With an all boy house, I find myself on a constant battlefield. Toys, socks, dog bones, backpacks…and that’s just the floors. I know you hear me. As soon as it gets organized, it is like a timer is set to see how fast it can come undone. So yeah, I’ve learned to love organizing.
5- My garden is one of my favorite places.
I have no idea what I am doing, but i love it. I saw a post the other day that the guy counted up how much he had spent on organic soil, composting materials, seeds, etc and had calculated it next to his picture of a head of broccoli. That broccoli head was $2,307!
Yeah, that’s me too. I built my garden planter box, invested in composting systems and have some extremely expensive vegetables. But I love it and it makes me happy.
6- I am not a breakfast person.
I have never liked breakfast, probably because I don’t like eggs and that pretty much throws out a lot of options. I could be happy with a smoothie or juice until lunch.
7- I always have music playing.
I listen to all kinds of tunes. I find more and more new music through Pandora or from my kids. I love finding new bands or songs and am always on the lookout for a concert I want to go to.
8- I am a closet introvert.
I really try hard to be social. Sometimes I have to really convince myself that once I go to a party or get together that I will enjoy myself. And I usually do, BUT, I have to work at it all the time. There’s a t-shirt I have seen on Pinterest that says, “Sorry I’m late. I didn’t want to come”. I thought about buying that…but then I would be coming out of the closet.
9- I’m married to Mr. Adventure.
I had never really traveled anywhere when I met my husband, of course, I was only 18. From the time we started dating we have been going places and it sparked a fire. It seems every chance we get we go explore somewhere, whether it be new or somewhere we have been many times. And raising the boys this way has been a blessing. They are so open to the travel way of life and of accepting hiccups in itinerary, people and places. If you would like to see my posts about some of the places we have been, click here.
10- A perfect Sunday.
There are not that many days that I have nothing to do, but on the occasion it does happen, it usually falls on a Sunday. The perfect Sunday would be sitting on the patio next to the pool and garden, watching the boys playing in the yard, sun shining down, sipping on a mimosa.
Do you have any funny quirks? What would your perfect Sunday be? I would love to hear!
